Kathy is the Managing Director and Portfolio Manager for the Small Cap Core Equity strategies for Wayne Hummer Asset Management Company. She has over 12 years of experience developing and managing small cap equity strategies.
Kathy began her career in the Fidelity Management & Research Company's (FMRCo) Equity Research Department as a Research Associate. After being promoted to Research Analyst she joined the FMRCo Small Cap Team in 1999. She managed the Fidelity Small Cap Value Fund from Inception in November 2004 until February 2006 to industry-leading returns. The fund was listed as a Wall Street Journal "Category King" in 2005, and she was named Jim Lowell's Fidelity Investor Fund Manager of the Year. During her 8 year tenure as an analyst in FMRCo's research department, she was responsible for primary coverage and investment recommendations in the restaurant and health care distributor industries at all capitalization ranges; and as a small cap analyst for tech hardware, consumer, business services, energy services, and insurance industries.
From March 2006 through December 2007 Kathy was an investment professional at Magnetar Capital running small cap value portfolios for the firm.
She earned a BS in Finance magna cum laude from Georgetown University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
